Trophy Shelves
It doesn’t matter if you are a championship bowler or your kid is a little league all star, someone worked hard to earn those trophies, and they should be displayed proudly on trophy shelves, rather than collecting dust in some store room or hiding out in the back of the closet. Trophies come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so there is no particular size or style of shelf that you are limited to when designating trophy shelves around your home. Any type of shelf that suits your particular trophy collection will do, but by using a little creativity you can highlight your trophy collection as somewhat of a focal point in a room…and show off a little!
Size and weight are major things to consider when determining the right kind of shelf on which to display your trophies. Standard trophies are pretty easy to display anywhere, but sometimes trophies get creative—like, maybe your bowling trophy base is an actual bowling ball. You’re obviously going to need sturdy trophy shelves for a collection like that! On the other hand, smaller trophies can be displayed just about anywhere.
Small Trophy Shelves
For smaller trophies, consider dedicating a simple set of knick knack shelves or even a curio cabinet to display your trophy collection. An added benefit to a curio cabinet is that it is enclosed, so you’ll spend more time enjoying your trophies, and less time dusting them.
Medium Trophy Shelves
Medium size trophies are the most standard, and can easily be displayed on typical shelves such as book shelves, half-wall ledges or entertainment center shelves.
Large Trophy Shelves
As mentioned in the bowling trophy example, if you are looking for a place to display a large, heavy trophy, be careful about where you choose to place it. In the case of this example, be sure that you either have an extremely sturdy shelf, or resort to displaying your trophy, instead, on a piece of furniture, such as a coffee table, end table, or desk. Very tall trophies can even be place directly on the floor for display—on either side of the entertainment center, for example.
Be creative when considering appropriate trophy shelves for your trophies of all sizes. The fireplace mantle shelf is a good place to display your trophies, as are wide ledges you may have in various places around your home. You could even consider designing a shelf in the same theme as whatever you have won these trophies for. For example, skateboarding trophies could be displayed on a skateboard shelf. Similarly, a baseball and glove make great accessories to your baseball trophies when displayed on your trophy shelves together. A spelling bee trophy might be highlighted with letter blocks—perhaps even spelling out the winning word!
Don’t be shy…it’s okay to be proud of your trophy collection! By investing a little time and creativity into your display, your trophy shelves can help you show off your particular skills and talents. You can add an element to any room that is uniquely you, with your trophy shelves!
